Spice Hound Music co. is a Brooklyn-based psychedelic Delta blues duo consisting of singer/guitarist David Askaryan and drummer Zach Hopper. The project was conceived by David over a six month period of isolation in upstate NY. This resulted in SHMC's debut EP "The Revival,” described as “blistering dirty blues" on the Edinburgh Man radio show.
After production of the EP was completed, David moved to Brooklyn where he met his new roommate and future drummer, Zach. David’s abrasive guitar style and middle-class vocals coupled with Zach’s professional jazz experience allowed the duo to create a unique sound – translating to an unrestrained live show.
The Hybrid Movement began in 2006 when Jillian St.Germain, Omar Thomas and Françoise Voranger began a conversation which comprised of classical ballet, breakdance, martial arts, aerial acrobatics and hand balancing. In 2008 they became an ensemble which began producing original multi-disciplinary productions in small performance venues, arts festivals, and museums as well as creating unique hybrid works for several larger entertainment groups and large fundraising events. In 2009 they premiered at the beautiful Hannover Theater for the Performing Arts, Worcester, MA, where we would later join the theater’s artist roster. In 2010 their New York premiere was created in a unique collaboration with the Little Orchestra Society, Anti Gravity inc.and The Wendy Hilliard Foundation for Spring season at the Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center. Their creations have appeared with the Broadway Cares Great Performances in Times Square, UNESCO Gala Germany, TEDx, Dancers Responding To Aids (sponsor; Chelsea Piers), the Springfield Symphony Orchestra and many more.
